DUNNET LANDING STORIES
In 1994, Pontine Theatre introduced its original stage adaptation of THE COUNTRY OF THE POINTED FIRS. Now Pontine's celebration of Sarah Orne Jewett's artistry continues with her DUNNET LANDING SKETCHES, a series of stories featuring the beloved characters of Jewett's masterpiece. Mrs. Todd introduces the narrator to a new cast of characters and situations including Ester Hight (a Dunnet Sherpardess) who is the beloved of Mrs. Todd's shy brother, William; Mrs. Capt. Tolland (The Foreigner) who celebrates her "fete day" alone on her islated farm; and Abby Martin (The Queen's Twin) who believes her life is mysteriously linked to the life of Queen Victoria.
Pontine offers a special lecture program, Familiar Fields: The Power of Community in the Work of Sarah Orne Jewett, through the New Hampshire Humanities Council's "Humanities To Go" Program. For more information visit the NHHC website: www.nhhc.org
